A Very Special Rolex
5th October 2021
The headline attraction for the 'bumper' Watch auction taking place on the 20th October 2021 will be this 'rare and special' Rolex Submariner '369' Explorer dial gentleman's wristwatch dating from 1962 estimated to fetch in the region of £150,000-200,000. The watch has been held in a private collection for the past 25 years and the vendor has now decided it's time to let it go!
Despite being extremely rare, quite remarkably this is the third example with this dial variation to sell at Gardiner Houlgate, with the two previous examples realising £192,000 in May 2016, and £210,000 more recently in October 2020. Gardiner Houlgate have certainly cornered the auction market in '369s' with ten different examples selling in excess of £1 million over recent times.
The sale consists of over 600 lots of watches and will be sold over the two days live online on the 20tth & 21st October 2021.
